Whether you are looking for a unique European gift item to send home or one-of-a-kind treasure to complete your collection, chances are good you’ll find it at the Foggy Fields Bazaar.
The bazaar takes place Nov. 19 to 21, starting at 10 a.m. all three days in Hanger 4 at the Geilenkirchen NATO Air Base. Friday and Saturday, vendors are open until 6 p.m. On Sunday, the bazaar closes at 4 p.m. The bazaar is open to all U.S. and NATO ID holders. Upon entry to Hanger 4, make sure that your ID card is available.
Sponsored by the American Women of Geilenkirchen (AWGK), the main focus of the bazaar is to generate funds that support a number of American and NATO-nation philanthropic organizations. The AWGK is a not-for-profit organization operating as a support and social organization within the NATO Air Base and surrounding community.
AWGK donates most of its proceeds from the Foggy Fields Bazaar to charitable causes. Each spring, AWGK awards numerous college scholarships to military dependents seeking to further their education. Last year, AWGK awarded more than $ 8,000.00 in scholarships to 10 military dependents to help offset the costs of higher education.
AWGK also donates money to various base organizations to help support ongoing events and programs. According to AWGK President, Wendy McLallen, last year AWGK helped support over 20 base organizations and donated to public charities such as the Sew-Much-Comfort organization, which provides adaptive clothing to injured service members from all branches of the military.
Membership in AWGK is open to all American women. General membership meetings are held the first Monday of each month, 6:30 p.m., at the Geilenkirchen NATO Air Base. For more information, contact Wendy McLallen at 0049-2454-935-587.
